This Mondrian Inspired Lane House is a vibrant addition to a Vancouver neighbourhood.

The 650 square foot lane house features top of the line custom millwork that maximizes living space and storage. The laneway house has one semi loft style bedroom, one full bath, and one powder room.

Since the property’s principal residence is slated for extensive renovation, a variety of vintage materials were removed from it and re-purposed in the new laneway house.

The bedroom has custom built-ins and a shelving unit crafted from teak reclaimed from the main home. The bedroom also features a recessed fireplace.

The hardwood flooring on the second level of the laneway house is reclaimed from the original home and the lane house’s main floor entertainment unit was crafted from a vintage hearth surround removed from the principal residence.

The main living space in this laneway house has a flexible layout and was designed to take in the city views.

The dynamic kitchen features a custom, castor-mounted island that moves about easily and the kitchen cabinetry and backsplash reflect the home’s vibrant exterior. Both make for an inspiring place to whip up nourishing meals and entertain guests. The kitchen also features a 30 inch Porter & Charles range and a 13.5 cu.ft Fisher & Paykel fridge and a dishwasher drawer.

The following materials were used in this lane house and reflect its modern custom design:

Plygem windows

Hardi panel and vertical metal exterior siding

Metal roof

Glass block windows
