This 1.5 storey coach house began with the desire to downsize to a dwelling large enough for our client, dog Lyla, and frequent visitors. At 1000 square feet, it delivers on all accounts.
With mindfully allocated bedrooms and bathrooms on separate floors (two of each), we created a lofted sanctuary for our client up top while still allowing for maximum guest privacy on the first floor. Another must-have for our client was a generous kitchen with natural accents, which gave way to custom bamboo cabinetry and a substantial peninsula.
A custom dog enclosure, complete with turf grass, is accessed via a secondary entrance in the kitchen while the additional outdoor space wraps around the home with entry points off the lane and through double patio doors.
Although complete with contemporary accents, this home is rounded out with many traditional materials and features. Engineered hardwood on the second storey, a combination of lap siding and shingle cladding, and a free-standing gas fireplace (our beloved Jøtul Allagash) lend a timeless appointment that will carry this home’s design into the future.
